Future Wireless Devices

Wireless and Mobile devices are increasingly supporting new features and services to fit our needs in our everyday lifestyle. The Personal Mobile Communication devices of the future will thrive with platforms that can support many applications. One application is Symbian OS that you find on most Smart Phones and new PDA's. Opera also makes a browser that looks like a windows browser with easy to use menus. What is going to be great about these wireless and Mobile devices is the integration and support of services. These services are going to include personal streaming radio, TV on demand, News bursts, Customized Search with pictures, links, and optional preferences that let you link to an all in one account for all you Needs that would include E-Wallet, E-Mail, and a Portable phone number that you can take from one device to another. However this phone number will change to VOIP as it catches on. Wireless and Mobile devices of the future will integrate GPS features with information services. What I see in the future that will be a killer app will be an application that will allow people to share any kind of information based on their profile or preferences with their Mobile device, so if you are in a certain area or belong to an organization and you may be looking for information or to meet people, others can send you this information or a business could send you this information as you pass by their location. Broadcast messaging I think will also be a big application and a form of advertisement. Broadcast messaging and Broadcast advertisements will enable the communication of messages or information in certain targeted areas of interest. To give an example of this type of Messaging, lets say you are in Times Square on New Years Eve where of course there is going to be many people in a certain geographic location for a certain reason. Organizers of these events can broadcast a list of events or or advertisements for local affiliates for the services available for the event at hand. Now you can take this a little further and target specific messages to certain age groups or a specific organization for example (Christians) based on their profiles or if they signed up for specific services that enable them to receive certain types of messages based on pre determined criteria. I think this is just the tip of the iceberg that will be in full scale by the year 2010. Mobile devices will be integrated into our daily lives where I think they will be an important and must have device for work and play. With these devices though you will have problems with privacy, as it is already at hand. However these devices will enable the world to communicate more freely and quicker. The benefits will greatly out weigh the negative disadvantages by the way of safety and information, like for example take the amber alert into consideration! Or Local traffic reports that include detours or information on what is happening on the road ahead that you cannot see. I welcome these Wireless and Mobile devices with arms wide open, do you?

Video iPod will go Wireless

With the success of iPods and now the new Video iPods, I think the next step will be wireless iPods with internet access. With the internet access you will be able to download short clips or movies very cheap! Lets look into it a little and see how video iPods will generate a considerable income for just about any kind of business you can think of. The first thought that has come to my mind when i first heard about the video iPods is Airlines. You can download movies for your flight or newsburst of specific categories or information that you are interested in. Colleges or seminars come to my mind next. If you miss a class or a teacher or professor records classes that can be downloaded for your viewing later. News headlines you can download and listen or watch on your way to work in the morning, because lets face it we are on short time as it is. I think advertising will generate a major source of revenue, just as it is now on the internet, but when you add Location Based Podvertising in conjunction with search features this is where the money will be. With Local Search, Location Based Services and Mapping features put together with Advertising then you will have a company that will generate a considerable amount of income. Now lets introduce wireless devices such as video ipods into the picture. I will give an Example of how this can benefit consumers as well as companies looking to broaden their business into the wireless search industry. I am a consumer looking for a house to buy in a certain area and IM driving around town browsing the houses on the market. I refer to my wireless Video ipod and do a Google search for houses or real estate. My query results return with a map, driving directions, Contact Information for who may be selling the property and a video clip of the house. Another example can be used with sending short video advertisements of a hotel or restaurant as I drive or walk by a place of establishment, My iPod can receive this information just by logging into a hotspot or wireless node. iPods may be equipped with cameras (iPodcam) to take pics and short video clips as well as used as a scanner for barcode print advertisement, so when you may read an advertisement or an article in a magazine or newspaper you can scan the barcode with your iPodcam and be taken to a video clip or video advertisement about that product or article. What gets ineresting is when your Video iPod can download video clips of music or sports or an advertisement based on a profile you set up on the wireless device. Add in Bluetooth and you can send video podcasts to the person next to you. Set that Bluetooth to discovery mode and connect and share information within 50 meters or farther. Whoever wants to view a short Video podcast of a profile of me may do so at will. Video Podcast dating! Now that is something I may look forward to before I go meet them in person. What I do know is that the future is at our fingertips. I'm not going to be left behind are you?

Intel Goes Global with WiMax - Yahoo! News

WiMax wireless broadband technology is gaining momentum worldwide with the announcement by Intel (Nasdaq: INTC - news) that carriers across the globe are deploying, or will soon be rolling out, fixed WiMax networks using the company's technology.
As you can see WiMax technology is a major starting point for location based roadside services. WiMax is due to hit United States in a few years, however analysts are skeptical of the technology deployment and are wondering if there is going to be a great demand for the product.

Yahoo and Google Set To Square Off In Wireless Arena - The Post Chronicle

SBC and Yahoo have reportedly had a partnership since 2001 and have steadily expanded it beyond traditional telecom and online services to merge video, wireless and phone services. SBC executives said the SBC-Yahoo phone, which will be manufactured by Nokia, is expected to be available as soon as early next year and will cost $200 to $300.
The moves mark a further step in the evolution of the cellphone from communications devices to minicomputers that can be used for email, Web browsing, music downloading and even watching TV, in addition to calls. Handset manufacturers have already started to produce single devices that combine cellphones, Web surfing, wireless email and MP3 players.
