Changes In the Wireless industry
Interesting changes has been happening lately, and more quickly than expected. AMPD is making waves with Video Service, that struck a major deal with MTV. Cingular Wireless is in trial with using your cell phone as a form of payment at convenient stores. Video iPod May go Wireless, I wrote up a post on this back in November here:Wireless iPod. Verizon Wireless vamping up on its Location Based Services as I described here in a post around September about the kinds of services that can be used in conjunction with Wireless Search Engine Marketing. One popular Location based Service that Cingular has stopped was its friend finder service that allows you to locate friends or family based on their locations proximity within a cellular tower. AT&T used to offer this service however now that Cingular bought out AT&T they have decided to discontinue it. I liked the Friend Finder service, my ex-wife and I used it, and when my Sony Ericsson T68i became lost somewhere, I used her phone to locate it at a grocery store in Las Vegas by sending a friend find request to it automatically and it would read out the street locations on her phone as to where the closet tower was. We then used her what's close by service for businesses and that is how we located it, as I lost it earlier running errands.
